Re: Can a commerce graduate attend Railway Apprentice exam?

Yes this exam is mainly conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. This is a special exam which is conducted with an objective of recruiting the most eligible candidates to the mechanical department in the railways department. The important qualifications required for attending this examination is as follows –

The candidates who are planning to attend this exam should have completed their 12th class with science as their main subjects. Also they need to study mathematics as a subject in the 12th class.

The candidates if graduates should have secured their graduation in the subject area of mathematics. This also requires from the part of the candidates to have studied physics and chemistry as their optional subjects during their graduation.
    • Their graduation studies should include physics and chemistry as their subjects in any one of the semesters.
    • The age limit for the candidates in this case is 17 years. Also the candidates should not be above 21 to attend this exam. There will be age relaxations in case of the age limits for those belonging to the reserved categories on a whole.

Hence the commerce graduates are not eligible to attend the special class railway apprentice exam as they do not have studied in the subject areas of Physics, chemistry and mathematics.
