Re: Date of government exams for B.Tech Computer Science students? Type of government jobs for which i can apply?

I think you should look for opportunities in software industries rather than going for government jobs. Why I am saying this is because some of the major software giants like Infosys, Wipro, Cognigant, CSC, IBM, Satyam etc are really hiring good many number of candidates every year and never to forget they also provide handsome salary, perks and emoluments to a software engineer. Moreover you can enjoy your posting in some of the great cities of India which would again enhance your life style. As far as Government jobs are concerned,No doubt the job security is there but you may not get that environment of competitiveness which you would be looking for.Anyways without wasting much of your time let me give you some information about government jobs

If your are good with your studies and if you are intended to face some challenging jobs then you should be looking for jobs in the following PSUs and other govt sector

Sail,BHEL,NTPC,ONGC,GAIL,Delhi metro etc. These PSUs conduct a written exam every year and after that followed by an interview for the post of graduate engineer trainee. But remember that the number of job vacancies would be less as far computer science or IT streams are concerned. They have more opportunities for Electrical and Mechanical graduate. So you really have to fight hard get in these PSUs.

IF you are interested in patriotism and job challenges under one roof then you may prefer DRDO, BRAMHOS ,INDIAN NAVY,etc
There are also some opportunities in Indian Airlines,Railway and telecom industry.I hope these information help you.

    Regards Saurav
