    im a electronics and communication engineering graduate i have planned to write IES exam plz tell me abt hw to approach this so that i could successfully crack this exam ? is it necessary that i shuld join any coaching institute?

    The engineering services examination is conducted in four streams.

    1. Civil Engineering
    2. Mechanical Engineering
    3. Electrical Engineering
    4. Electronics and Communication Engineering
    It is a 3 days exam the exam consist both objective type questions paper and descriptive type question papers.
    The exam is based on your subjects so you have to prepare well for this exam.

    The written examination comprises following papers;
    -One General Ability Test paper
    -Two objective type papers from the engineering stream
    -Two conventional(subjective) type papers from the engineering stream.

    The GENERAL ABILITY TEST contains two parts;

    Part A: General English.
    This part contains question from basic english understanding.
    Part B: General Studies:
    This paper includes current events.

    after completion of your b.tech course you will be eligible to attain IES exam.

    but to attain IES exam you should have 60% marks in Engineering.

    the age limit for attain in the IES exam is 21-29.

    Candidate age limit ahould be from 21-28 years to apply for the IES and there is relaxation for reserved category .

    Candidate who have passed or appearing for the engineering from any of these four streams can apply for the IES .

    The candidates who have done their engineering graduation in any of the following four streams are eligible to apply for the Indian Engineering Services (IES) exam. which is conducted by the UPSC for all these four streams:
    Civil Engineering.
    Mechanical Engineering.
    Electrical Engineering.
    Electronics and Communication Engineering.
    This exam consist both objective type questions paper and descriptive type question papers. The exam is based on your subjects so you have to prepare well for this exam.     Indian Engineering Services (IES) are the Technical Services of India. The test is conducted in May or June every year at centres across India.

    qualification required:
    Engineering in category of civil, mechanical, electrical, and electronics and telecommunication.

    age limit: 21-30 years

    depending on service experience the type of grades allotted.

    initial stage - Assistant Engineer/Sub-Division Officer
    After experience of 7 years service - Executive Engineer
    After 11 - Executive Engineer selection grade
    After 15 - Superintending Engineer
    After 21 - Chief Engineer Level-2
    After 25 - Chief Engineer Level-1
    After 28 - Eligible for selection to the post of Engineer-in-Chief.

    exam details:

    There is objective as well as subjective paper.

    1) One paper for GS (General Studies) is part of the assessment system apart from the engineering subject of the candidate.

    2) The entire technical subject is divided into two papers (PAPER 1 and PAPER 2).

    There is a three day schedule of the written examination, comprising in all written examinations.

    schedule:
    day1: General Studies (GS) paper, This exam is of 2 hrs duration, 200 marks maximum.
    day 2: Objective Paper1,paper2;each paper have 2 hrs in duration, maximum of 200 marks each.
    day 3: Conventional (Subjective) Papers1, Paper2, each paper 3 hrs in duration,maximum of 200 mark each.

    interview:
    The candidates who qualify the written exam are called for Interview of 200 marks.

    you shouldbe well prepared in all your subjects to crack the exam

    IES is Indian Engineering Services. it is an exam conducted by UPSC for engineering background candidates. The advertisement for this exam generally is given in the month of feb to march and the exam is conducted in june or july. It is conducted for 4 streams.

    Yes , an electronic stream graduate is eligible for the ies exam

    you should have 60 % in your overall b.tech to apply for the exam
    you shouldbe well prepared in all your core ssubjects
    you should try to solve every problem in a shortcut method.

    There is no need to go for coaching for this exam.
    It is better to prepare on your preparation in home.

    IES is an all india service & 1/1000 chances for success. it will be conducted in the 2nd week of june & syllabus & eligibility will be available in net. if u want to really get succes just keep in touch with the subject from the first year onwards with out leaving any single topic & if have already completed just take 2 to 3 yrs time prepare thoroughly & make an attempt 'coz it should not disappoint u at forst attempt

    EXAMINATION shall be conducted according to the following plan:- Part I-The written examination will comprise two sections-Section I consisting only of objective types of questions and Section II of conventional papers. Both Sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering disciplines viz. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. The standard and syllabi prescribed for these papers are given in Schedule to the Appendix. The details of the written examination i.e. subject, duration and maximum marks allotted to each subject are given in para 2 below.
    Part II-Personality test carrying a maximum of 200 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the basis of the written examination.
    2. The following will be the subjects for the written examination:-
    Note: Candidates are advised to read carefully special instruction to candidates for conventional type tests and objective type tests given in Appendix-IV (Part A & Part B) including the procedure regarding filling in the Answer Sheet of objective type tests in the Examination Hall.
    3. In the Personality Test special attention will be paid to assessing the candidate's capacity for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application and integrity of character.
    4. Conventional papers must be answered in English. Question papers will be set in English only.
    5. Candidates must write the papers in their own hand. In no circumstances will they be allowed the help of a scribe to write the answers for them.
    6. The Commission have discretion to fix minimum qualifying marks in any or all the papers of the examination. The Objective Type papers as contained in Section-I of the Plan of the Examination will be evaluated first and evaluation of the Conventional Type papers contained in Section-II of the Plan of Examination will be done only of those candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in Objective types papers, as fixed by the Commission.
    7. Marks will not be allotted for mere superficial knowledge.
    8. Deduction up to 5 per cent of the maximum marks for the written papers will be made for illegible handwriting.
    9. Credit will be given for orderly, effective and exact expression combined with due economy of words in the conventional papers of the examination.
    10. In the question papers, wherever required, SI units will be used.
