    Detailed structure about Civil exams? How to prepare for it?

    this is bargavi completed my b.tech in 2011...I am interested to write civils exams........give me some guide lines regarding exams........which institute i must join to get good knowledge in hyderabad...........

    The Civil service examination is mainly conducted by the Union Public service Commission of India. The candidates have to look in to the notifications which are published with regard to the Civil service examinations.

    Since you are a graduate you can certainly apply for the Civil service exams. The minimum eligibility for attending the Civil service exam is a graduation in any discipline. The candidates need to secure the graduation from a recognized university or college which is highly reputed. The candidates should be between 21 30 years. There is always a relaxation in case of the reserved categories such as SC/ST and other categories.

    The structure of the Civil service exam consists of a preliminary objective type examination and a main exam.

    General studies The following areas will be covered in the general studies paper
    • Indian Polity & Economy
    • History of India including Indian National Movement
    • Indian and World Geography
    • Current Affairs of National and International Importance
    • General and day-to-day Science
    • Mental Ability and Basics of Statistics etc

    There will be questions from the current affairs. The second part will cover the optional subjects. The candidates can select the subject according to their choice as optional subjects.

    Civil Service Jobs recruitment is conducted by Union Public Service Commission .This Exam conducts once in a year.

    This recruitment involves Three Stages of Examination to candidate.Those are Preliminary Exam,Mains Exam,Interview

    Examination Pattern for Civil Service Exam:

    Preliminary Exam:

    Preliminary Exam have two papers those are as follows
    • General Studies ( Paper-I) 200 Marks
    • Civil Service Aptitude Test(CSAT) (Paper-II) 200 Marks

    Total Marks for Preliminary Exam is 400 Marks.

    Mains Examination:

    Mains Exam consist Nine Papers

    Those are as follows

    1. Regional Language( Must be qualified,Not consider score)
    2. English (Must be Qualified,Not consider score )
    3. General Studies Paper-I-300 Marks
    4. General Studies Paper-II-300 Marks
    5. Essay Writing-200 Marks
    6. Optional Subject-I (Paper-I)-300 Marks
    7. Optional Subject-I (Paper-II)-300 Marks
    8. Optional Subject-II( Paper-I)-300 Marks
    9. Optional Subject-II( paper-II)-300 Marks

    Total Number of Marks for Mains Exam is 2000 Marks

    Interview 300 Marks

    Each Paper of Preliminary Exam is Two Hours Duration

    Each paper of Mains Exam is Three Hours Duration

    Preliminary Exam Notification Date: February/04/2012

    Last Date for Submission of Applications is March/05/2012

    Examination Date is May/20/2012.

    How to Prepare:

    You should divide a day into Four slots and each slot you should cover different topics.

    You should take a one day rest for a week. after completion of that week word.

    You should prepare for exam with great zeal every day and should hope and confident on yourself

    UPSC will hold the civil service exams like IAS,IES,IPS,IFS etc. If you are interested in UPSC exams then you have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria.

    Eligibility for Civil services :

    You have to complete your Graduation from any recognized university.

    Age qualifications

    Your age should not more than 30 years and not less than 21 years.The upper age limit will be applicable for ST/SC/OBC candidates.

    5 years for ST/SC candidates.
    3 years for OBC candidates.

    You should be citizen from India.

    Number of attempts

    4 for general category
    7 for OBC
    No limit for ST/SC candidates..

    Examination structure

    The examination should consist of 2 phases namely

    Preliminary examination
    Main examination.

    After completion of preliminary examination you are eligible for main examination.

    Preliminary examination should consist objective type.It consist of general studies paper.
    Those who are clearing preliminary examination they can go for main examination.

    Main examination is one type of descriptive examination.Here totally 9 papers are there.Here you have to choose the optional subjects.Based on that subjects you can write the exam.After clearing the main examination you can go for Final Interview.
