If you wish to continue your studies after civil engineering degree, then you can opt for many courses. You can either go for masterís degree in civil engineering or you can go for MBA degree. Some specializations offered under M.Tech course in civil engineering are Environmental Engineering, Building Technology and Construction Management, Transportation Engineering, Hydraulic and Water Resources Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, etc. A few specializations offered in MBA are Finance Management, Operations Management, Human Resources Management, Marketing Management, etc. The civil engineering candidates can get good jobs in both private and public sector. A fresher in this field can get employed as junior engineer or trainee. Those who are talented in this field will be promoted to the posts of Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers etc. These graduates can also appear in the government exams like UPSC, SSC, PSC, RRB, CSAT, etc. Some of the employment areas for them are IAS, IPS, IES, PWD, Indian Railways, public sector banks, etc. The civil engineering candidates are also required in the areas like power generation firms, gas and oil plants, construction of water mains and pipelines, etc. They can also apply for jobs in Defense services. Teaching is also a good option for these graduates. You can join as guest lecturers in government colleges after B.Tech. You can join as lecturer on a permanent basis in universities or government colleges after completing M.Tech followed by NET qualification.
