eligibility criteria for NET
M.Sc or equivalent degree , with minimum 55% marks for General and OBC candidates
and 50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually Handicapped candidates and Ph.D.
A candidate can also apply for the Test under RA (Result Awaited) category, if he/she is appearing or has appeared in his/her final year (III/IV Semester where Semester system is there) of M.Sc. or equivalent degree examination . Such candidates will have to submit the attestation format (given at the reverse of the application form) duly certified by the Head of the Deptt./Institute over his/her signature and rubber stamp (with address and name) from where the candidate is appearing or has appeared in the final year M.SC or equivalent degree examination.
However, such candidates shall be admitted to the Test provisionally. They shall only be considered eligible for JRF-(NET)/LS-(NET), if they are able to produce the proof of having passed the Master’s Degree examination in the relevant or related subject with the requisite percentage of marks and within the stipulated time frame.
The Master’s degree can be either in Humanities, Social Science, Computer science, Electronic Science etc.

CSIR NET is a national level entrance exam for the postgraduate candidates who wants to persue ph.d and want to become a university level lecturer. NET sands for national entrance test conducted by UGC (university grant commision).
UGC conduct NET exam twice in a year in the month of june and december. The notification for june and december exam is publish in the month of april and september respectively. The notification can be seen from official website of UGC i.e. Www.ugc.ac.in.

I am very sorry to say that you are not eligible for the CSIR NET exam.The eligibility criteria is that you sholud have a masters degree with 55% marks in aggregate for General/OBC and 50% for sc/st.My suggestion to you will be If you've completed ur B-Tech then complete your M.tech or equivalent(Any Post Grad.Course) first and then only u can sit for the NET exam.

CSIR NET 2011 Age Limit & Relaxation :
For JRF ( NET ) : Minimum 19 Years and maximum 28 Years as on 01.07.2011 upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 Years as in case of candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC, OBC ( Non Creamy Layer ), Physically handicapped / Visually handicapped and female applicants.
For LS ( NET ) : Minimum 19 Years, as on 01.07.2011. No Upper Age Limit.
Yes B.Tech is very much eligible for CSIR NET.
Rather i am B.Tech and qualified June 2011 NET exam in life science.
Actually qualification is M.Sc or equivalent.
B.Tech is considered equivalent to M.Sc.
But B.Tech is not eligible for ICMR exam.

B.Tech is considered equivalent to M.Sc now.
Requirement for NET exam is MSc or equivalent degree.
Since B.Tech/BE is equivalent, so you can appear for exam.
But if target is to get lecturer job, then you will have to do masters, even after quailfying NET exam.
But you can take admission based on NET - JRF in IIT's and CSIR labs.
Details for CSIR NET Exam :- CSIR stands for Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and it is conducted for Science stream candidates.
I am describing further branches of CSIR are following as :-
i) Chemical Science :- In chemical science we mainly discuss with chemical equation and feel about molecular formulas.
ii) Mathematical Science :- In Mathematical branch we study about complex analysis,parabolic equation and Differential equation.
iii) Physical Science :-In Physical science the topic was newton's law of motion,gravitation law and electromagnetism.
Educational Qualification for CSIR NET exam :- You must required to complete M.Sc degree with minimum 60% marks in qualifying examination.You must do M.Sc degree from well recognized colleges/University.
According to my experience CSIR examination conducted in two following categories :-
i) JRF :- For JRF test age limit will be in between 19-28 years and Physical handicapped are also eligible for this test.
ii) Lectureship Post :-The short form of Lectureship Post is LP and this test may be conducted in June month every year.
CSIR NET examination contain Multiple Choice Question of 200 marks.
B.Tech candidates are not eligible for CSIR NET examination.This examination for M.Sc degree holder.

B-TECH student are not eligible for NET exam.
After Masters degree , you are eligible for NET exam but your degree must be from UGC approved university.
Those candidate have completed masters degree from recognized university are eligible for NET exam.
For general and OBC candidate must be hold 55%above in masters degree. SC/ST candidate must be hold 50% above in masters degree.
Part time course are not eligible for NET exam.
For Junior research fellowship course your age must be in between 19 to 28 years.
For lectureship ,There is no upper age limit but the Minimum age is 19 years.
NET exam is conduct because of govt college lecturer and PHD entrance.

After the B.tech bachelor degree you can not apply for the NET entrance exam . nET entrance exam has been conducted for the master degree students for the Lecturer job post under the government collages / University ...
NEt entrance exam eligibility:

New Pattern of NET Exam:-
Paper I- 60 Questions in total .50 Out of 60 Questions need to be answered. Total marks is 100. The duration of this session is 1 Hours 15 minutes.
Paper II- 50 questions. All Questions are compulsory . Total marks is 100. The duration of the session is also 1Hour 15 mins.

But they should have scored minimum 55% marks in aggregate in their BE/BTECH for General and OBC candidates
