    Eligibility for IAS exam? Can a IT student eligible to write IAS exam?

    Sir,
    I m pursuing Final B.Tech(IT) under Anna University. Whether Am I eligible to write IAS exam. If it is possible, Which sub can i take as a main paper because IT is not available.. Which is suitable to study. please guide me......

    your idea will be clear.
    eligibility for ias exam
    (i) age limit
    21 to 30 years as on 1.7.2012(upper age limit relaxation for SC/ST,OBC and cirtain other categories )
    (ii) EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
    bachelor's degree of a recognized university with atleast one of the subjects namely
    animal husbandry and veterinary science,botany,chemistry,geology,mathematics,physi cs,
    statistics and zoology or a bachelor's degree in agriculture,forestry or in engineering or an equivalent qualification.

    To become an IAS officer you should write the civil services exam conducted by UPSC

    The Details of this notification is below

    Qualification : Any graduation from recognized university
    Age limit : 21-30 years as on 01-08-2012

    Selection process
    : written test & interview

    Last date to apply : 05-03-2012
    Applications are provided in online in the website www.upsconline.nic.in

    Exam date : 20-05-2012

    Hallo Friend,


    You have asked here about the Eligibility of applying in IAS exam.Here I will say a detailed view for applying in IES exam after completing B.Tech in IT and guide you what to take as main subject.
    The minimum Qualification for appearing in IES exam is that you have to complete your Graduation Degree from a renowned University with atleast one of the following subjects:
    1.Botany
    2.Chemistry
    3.Mathematics
    4.Animal Husbandery
    5.Vetarnery Sciance
    6.Physics
    7.Biology
    8.Statistics
    As you have completed B.Tech you can complete the papers of Physics or Mathematics as both of them are related to Engineering.Besides, your age limit should be in between 21-30 years.

    IAS i.e Indian Administration Service:


    This is a entrance exam conducted by the UPSC govt under the civil services exams ,and this is conducted every year once. So if you want to become a IAS officer you must write the entrance exams and for this exam required requirements are follow bellow;.

    Required Requirements :

    For this required educational qualifications are you must completed the graduation in any field and final year students also apply.

    And required age limit should be 21-30 years for general category candidates and 5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidness and 3 years age relaxation for OBC candidates.

    You can attempt entrance exam 4 times for general category candidates and no limit for SC/ST candidness and 7 times for OBC candidates.Here physical requirements are not required.

    Selection Processor:

    For this exam the selection processor is based on the 3 stages like preliminary exam after qualifying you can also write the main exam,after completing these two tests called for personal interview.

    If you are qualifying above mention requirements ,then you can apply online by click here .

    So you are an IT background and this is not there in main paper you don't worry you can tack another course.

    IAS is one of the Civil Service Examination . This Examination is conducted by UPSC ( Union public service commission ) for every year .
    If you want to become an IAS Officer then you should qualified in three levels namely Preliminary Examination / Main Examination / Interview .

    Eligibility criteria :-

    The applicant should complete bachelor degree in any any discipline from recognized university . There is no minimum percentage of marks require for IAS Examination . If your complete bachelor degree with low percentage of marks , then also your eligible to apply for this examination .

    The applicant should not below 21 years and should not above the age of 30 years and relaxation is applicable for sc/st candidates for 5 years and obc candidates for 3 years and Physically challenged candidates for 10 years .

    The applicant should apply for attempt examination for 4 times , If the applicant belong from obc candidate then relaxation is given for 7 times and there is no limit for sc/st candidates .

    If you fulfill the above criteria,then you are eligible for IAS.

    Eligibility Criteria for Civil Service Preliminary Exam

    Dear Aspirant,

    You are pursuing B.Tech Final year ,You can Eligible for this Exam,But you should have Graduation obtained proof for Mains Exam.

    Now,You can eligible to apply for Preliminary Exam.

    Educational Qualifications:

    Any Graduate from recognized University can eligible to apply for Civil Service Preliminary Exam.

    Final year students of graduation also eligible but ,they should have graduation pass for Mains Exam

    Age Limits:

    A candidate should attained minimum age is 18 years and not maximum 30 years of age as on 01/08/2012 for General Category Candidates.

    Hi dude,

    Yes dude your eligible for appearing for IAS exam.

    But you need to complete your Graduation to appear for IAS exam.

    This is include in the services which come under civil services.

    Civil service exams are conducted by UPSC.

    This exam is conducted every year to recruite IAS,IPS,IFS officers.

    The exam is conducted in 2 stages:-

    1)Preliminary and

    2)Mains.

    To appear for this exam`s you need to be a graduate from reconized university.

    General candidates have 4 attempts.

    OBC candidates have 7 attempts.

    SC/ST candidates hae no limit.

    Notifications will be released in the month of Feburary.

    Last date of applying is 5th of march 2012.

    Indian Administrative Service conducts exam for the recruitment of candidates.The Eligibility criteria for the IAS Exam is as follows:

    * Minimum 18 years of age.

    * The maximum age allowed is 30 years for the candidates belonging to the general category.

    * Age relaxation is provided for the reserved categories.

    * 5 years for SC/ST Categories.

    * 3 years for OBC categories.

    Indian Administrative Services:
    The candidates who belong to the any of the streams of study can apply for the IAS/IPS examinations as the candidates who had completed the Graduation in any of the streams of study are eligible for the examination of the Civil Services.........

    IAS Examination comes under the one of the civil services examinations and these examinations are of the prestigious examinations which are conducted.The IAS Indian Administrative Services are the prestigious posts as they control the all Indian administrative services and they are responsible for the Development of the India,they had the high honnor for this post..........

    There are some fixed eligibility criteria which must be followed for appearing to the examination of the IAS,such as.......
    *You must have attained the age of 21 years and must not exceed the age of 30 years
    the upper age limits are as per the rules of the governments........
    *Should have completed the graduation or the bachelor degree course of study in any of the streams of study for appearing to these services........

    You are absolutely eligible for IAS. Let me provide you the Eligibility Conditions to appear in IAS Exam.


    Educational Qualifications:
    The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification

    Note : Candidates who have appeared at an examination the passing of which would render them educationally qualified for the Commission’s examination but have not been informed of the results as also the candidates who intend to appear at such a qualifying examination will also be eligible for admission to the Preliminary Examination. All candidates who are declared qualified by the Commission for taking the Civil Services (Main) Examination will be required to produce proof of passing the requisite examination with their application for the Main Examination failing which such candidates will not be admitted to the Main Examination.

    Age Limit:
    General Category: 21-30 yr.
    Upper age limit is relaxable for SC,ST,OBC candidates. SC/ST-5 yrs ; OBC-3 yrs.
