Re: Which exams to be written to become a custom officer?

Your decision to enter the customs department is generally a good decision. Since you have not mentioned what are the qualifications required for joining this department, it will be better to specify that first. You need to be a graduate in any discipline. You should have secured the graduation from a recognized or established university. You should be between 21-30 years. There are age relaxations in case of the reserved categories. It is true that you need to attend the written examination to enter the customs department. The written examinations are mainly conducted by the UPSC. The candidates have to attend the preliminary stage of the examination first. Those who qualify in the first stage will go in to the next stage. The candidates will be qualified in the area of General English, General Knowledge, and Arithmetic etc. You need to understand that customs is a sector which involves many other departments. Hence the general eligibilities for attending the written examination will not be equal for all these departments. The final stage of selection will be generally based on the performance of the candidates in the personal interview. The candidate also needs to be physically fit for attending this exam.
