Is it good option to do M.Tech after leaving job?

I did my B.Tech in 2007 from a not so reputted college , currently i am working in a PSU , although neither the PSU nor the job profile is too exciting...but still its a decent Govt. job.
I have qualified GATE 2012 in EE with rank of nearly 4700.GATE score about 435.
Will i be able to get a good college with this rank?
Will it be good idea to leave this job and then opt for M.Tech at this stage?
Why to go for M.Tech in your view?
And i am nearing 27 years of age.

    Hello
Firstly congrats on your GATE rank.. About the admission in the colleges, it depends on the factors like the course you are opting and if you are a SC or ST I'm sure you will get a seat. But the case of general I'm not sure...

In my opinion Complete your M.Tech if the college you are opting is a reputed one....because it matters.... If not try attending the exams like BEL,BHEL etc... which are accepting the scores of GATE and calling for the interview... Doing an Masters degree will help you in the long run.. Because of competition. But since you are in the government sector you can move in the government sector only... So finally if the college you are gonna get the admission is good enough go for it!!!! Bye....

    Hi Guest,

Your gate score is good and hope you are placed in a good college with your score. The advantage of doing M. Tech through gate score is you will be getting a good scholarship from government and also in future many companies will be coming to your college in your final year.

If not you are placed in campus placement through campus placement, then these are the government jobs in which you can apply after your graduation.

List of Government Companies in India for Engineering Students:

    BEL (Bharat Electronics Limited)

    BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited)

    BPCL (Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited)

    BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited)

    Central Electronics Limited

    Coal India Limited

ECIL (Electronics Corporation of India Limited)

    Engineering Projects (India) Limited

    Engineers India Limited

    GAIL (India) Limited

    Hindustan Aeronautics Limited

    HCL (Hindustan Cables Limited)

    HPCL (Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited)

    IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Limited)

    Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited

    NMDC Limited

North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited

    NTPC Electric Supply Company Limited

NPCIL (Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited)

ONGC (Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited)

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited

SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited)

    And many more companies…

As you are not satisfied with the job in which you are working now, I suggest you to go for M. Tech and then have a good future ahead joining in a good college and placed in campus.

    All the best.

    Hi

Its very good that you are already working in a PSU. Sir, whatever it is a government job in India is like a golden opportunity. You may not live a very luxurious life, but you will never be in tension of loosing your job ever.

Even after your retirement you would be paid by the Government of India.
Still keeping aside these positives it seems that you are not quite happy with your job. So you had applied for he GATE 2012.

4700 rank is way behind for getting you any job in the top PSU's. However you can elect to do M.Tech.
M.Tech stands for the Master's in Technology and it is basically a 2 years course of post graduation.

Coming to your case, you are nearing 27, and so if you choose to do M.Tech now you would reach 29. After that also, since 4700 rank will not get you any M.Tech seat in the IIT's, you will have to do it from the NIT's.
There the placements is nice, but presently what you are getting as your salary you have not mentioned that. So I am unable to compare.

But according to my knowledge, after M.Tech you can get jobs in companies with packages of over 4 or 6 lacs p.a WHICH is good enough for a candidate of age 24-25 years. But at your age I think you should continue with your job.

M.Tech will not be of much use to you as you would not get much increment in the salary that you are earning right now.
I would suggest you to keep trying for the GATE as you can do well and then click in the top PSU's which give salaries of over 7-8 lacs p.a which would Actually make a difference.

    Hope this helps

    All the best

    Regards
    RANJEET

Re: Is it good option to do M.Tech after leaving job?

    Hello friend,

You have study for the job in good reputed companies and i am show you have also done the M.tech for the goos job posts in any government and private companies...

After the some experience you want to do the M.tech if you get the job post after the B.tech in good companies then you can have to do the job in companies...

M.tech is not good option after the leaving the job because after the M.tech you have also get the job posts in the
    MNC's companies
Government companies like BHEL, IOCL, ONGC, NTPC, Power GRid etc

After the M.tech you can do the Lecturer job post in government collages through the NET exam.

So you have to do the job more after the B.tech after the job you have get the experience so on the basis of these you can get the more good jobs..

And you can apply for the jobs in government departments :

    BHEL
    IOCL
    ONGC
    BSNL
    SAIL
    POWER GRID
    IAS
    IPS
    Railways jobs
    BAnking sector job etc...

    Thank you!

Re: Is it good option to do M.Tech after leaving job?

    Hello dude!

I suggest you not to leave your job and prefer M.Tech because currently the job you are doing an excellent and prestigious job,Working in PSU is what every B.Tech GRADUATE will dream for and your salary will get incremented if your experience increases. So it is better if you don't leave the job.

The reason why i suggest you not to prefer M.Tech is in recent years doing M.Tech has not made any difference and even after you do M.Tech you are not sure that you will get a salary more than the salary as you are getting the presently working Public sector company.

So,finally I conclude that please don't leave your job.

HOPE THE INFORMATION HELPED YOU AND ALL THE BEST.

    Dear Aspirant;

By seeing your GATE ranking its seems that you are much more concerned about your career. There are alot of opportunities are there for MTech candidates, as MTech is a Master degree.

Hence, you have to go for M.Tech.

Best of Luck for your career.

    With regards
