• Academics – The minimum educational qualification required is Graduation in any discipline from any recognized university / colleges. It is compulsory for the candidate to have studied Punjabi as main /elective subject in school /college levels.
• Age Limit – The lower age limit is 21 yrs and Upper age limit being 25 years as on 1-01-2011. (Age relaxable by norms in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates.)
• Ex-Service Men – There will be relaxation in case for Ex-Service Men of age by 3 years plus the number of years they have served in the Defence forces. But the period of discharge and the period of joining a new job shouldn’t exceed 24 months/2yrs.

Physical requirements for Male Candidates –

• Minimum height should be 5 feet 7 inches.
• A physical efficiency test will conducted only those candidates who fulfill those measurements would be able to participate in the physical efficiency test.

Long jump and high jump should also be attempted. Incase Ex-service men (35 yrs & above) there will be 1400 mtr race which need to be completed in 12 minutes and also needed to attempt 10 continuous sit ups. Any candidate who is not able to clear this round will not be disqualified. \
