    em a dentist,want to know about...how to get permanent commission in indian army for dentist...plz,if u have ant info regarding that.....

    Dear Doctor,

    You can chose to join any of the three services and the DGAFMS-Director General Armed Forces Medical Services, Min. of Def is
    the Final Selection authority for all Medical Related Commissioned Ranks.

    Since you have already in possession of MBBS Degree with Dental Specialisation you are provisionally becoming eligible to as a Medical Officer.

    AFMC-Armed Forces Medical College is the authenticated agency for all medical branches in Defence Forces.

    Requirements: Your MBBS should be IMA-Indian Medical Council recognised India or International Institute/University
    and after completion of the course you should have registered as a Member of IMA-Indian Medical Council and with the Medical Registrar
    of a State of practice/residence.

    Your age should be Below 45 Yrs in order to apply as Medical Officer.

    Please follow the procedure as mentioned below:-

    Prescribed format application is to be made in duplicate and submitted to DGAFMS, New Delhi.

    Also you can obtain the Application Form from DGAFMS or as and when they release public notification for commissioning.

    There are documents pertaining to Qualifications/Registrations etc to be attached with the application.

    Please refer web portal of army under Commissioning in Medical Services to know other details and addresses where to submit the application etc.

    As said above DGAFMS is the final authority for accepting/processing applications suitable. There will also be a Written Test on getting short-listed
    in that an Interview will be conducted by the Army Medical Corps Selection Board.

    The selected candidates will be placed under Short Service Commission, that is for maximum 5 Yrs and further extendable as per the
    performance/Appraisal reports etc.

    National Defense Academy examination is conducted by the Union Public Service commission. The candidates who are interested can apply to the various wings in the defense sector namely the Indian Army, Navy and Air force. The important requirements for attending the NDA exam is as follows –
    • The candidates should have completed their 12th class from a recognized institution. The candidates should have taken science as their main subject with Physics, Chemistry and mathematics as the main subjects.
    • The candidates should be unmarried males.
    • The age limit should be between 16 and half years and should not be more than 19 years.

    The candidates who are in the final year of the exam can also apply. The candidates should not get married until the time of the admission in to the defense. Apart from the educational requirements the candidates should also adhere to certain medical standards.

    The candidate should be physically fit. They should have the required height, weight, eyesight etc for joining in to the defense sector. The candidates are required to attend the written examination which will be mainly objective type from areas of their subject which they had studied. The selection will be mainly based on the result in the written examination and also the physical test which will be conducted.

    To get permanent commission in Indian Army as Dentist you should be at least MBBS (recognized by the Indian Medical Council and after completion of the course you should be registered as a Member of IMA.Your age should be less than 45 years.

    The IMAGAFMS-Director General Armed Forces Medical Services, Min. of Defense is the Final Selection authority for all Medical Related Commissioned Ranks.

    The Application Form can be obtained from the DGAFMS, New Delhi.     kindly understand BDS and MBBS are totally different streams and dont think both are the same .
    those who study MBBS are general doctors and dont study about teeth as BDS do...
