    Job opportunities for speech therapist?

    I am interested to pursue my degree in speech therapy. I would like to know the current and future prospect for speech therapy pathologies and their rough monthly income. Also, I would like to know which job has a higher job opportunity, psychologist or speech therapist?

    First of all, know, what is speech therapists.

    Speech pathologists, officially called speech-language pathologists and sometimes called speech therapists, work with people who have a variety of speech-related disorders. These disorders can include the inability to produce certain sounds, speech rhythm and fluency problems, and voice disorders. They also help people who want to modify accents or who have swallowing difficulties. Speech pathologists' work involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of speech-related disorders.


    PACKAGE/SALARY~~

    In India, a speech therapist or audiologist in a government hospital gets a starting salary of around Rs.5000 per month and this can go up to Rs.20,000 after achieving 2-3 years of working experience.

    Private hospitals offer better salaries and benefits. These specialists can also do private practice
    The annual pay package of a speech therapist in UK and USA is much higher than in India. A speech therapist gets annual average salary of about $52,000 and the highest salary being paid is $80,000 per year.


    Criteria~~

    Three year B.Sc. courses in Speech Therapy and Audiology of three years may be pursued. For specialization in a certain area, they you may opt for the master's course after graduation.
