Re: Is M.Tech from AMIE eligible for an Assistant professor post in Engineering college?

I don't know whether MTech from distance is valid or not, but definitely not as per AICTE. You don't need to do MTech from distance, as you can do it regular in engineering college, especially from Andhra Pradesh, and work as a lecturer in the same very college. As a matter of fact, about 70% of lecturer do the same and even pursue their PHD regular in the same very college while being as an assistant or associate professor. You just need to talk with the administration of the college before joining MTech that you are interested in pursuing MTech and also to be as a faculty member. I think you will get a positive reply for sure, especially in Andhra Pradesh, as their are too many colleges and shortage of faculty, as the faculty sometimes demand more salary or jump to some other college. So, you just need to negotiate with the administration or principal of the college well. Please don't ever think about distance courses, as engineering in distance in not at all valid apart from AMIE and that too only graduation. You can change your career upside down by doing either MTech or PHD from top institutes like bits pilani or IIT, as it is not that difficult to join these colleges at higher level after BTech. If not, at least try to pursue PHD from top college, that will not be as difficult as their is very less competition, and after that its your PHD and the college from where you have done will count and also it will increases your income tremendously. Good Luck
