    Which optional papers should be taker to clear IAS?

    Respected Sirs and Madams,

    I have done my graduation with Maths as my Honours paper ( First class from Calcutta University, St.Xavier's College) and MCA (First class from Jadavpur university) .At present I am working in a Govt PSU in Kolkata. I am preparing for IAS and WBCS. I will be extremely grateful if any suggestion regarding selection of optional papaers is given to me.

    There are 2 papers in UPSC CSP exam, one is general studies which is common to all of the students and other will be optional subjects which we have to choose.
    Paper - I General Studies 150 Marks
    Paper - II One of the optional subjects to be selected from the
    prescribed optional subjects 300 Marks

    # Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
    # Botany Syllabus
    # Chemistry Syllabus
    # Civil Engineering Syllabus
    # Commerce Syllabus
    # Economics Syllabus
    # Electrical Engineering Syllabus
    # Geography Syllabus
    # Geology Syllabus
    # Indian History Syllabus
    # Law Syllabus
    # Mathematics Syllabus
    # Mechanical Engineering Syllabus
    # Medical Science Syllabus
    # Philosophy Syllabus
    # Physics Syllabus
    # Political Science Syllabus
    # Psychology Syllabus
    # Public Administration Syllabus
    # Sociology Syllabus
    # Statistics Syllabus
    # Zoology Syllabus

    Part B - Main Examination - Optional Subjects
    Paper-I One of the Indian Languages to be selected by the candidate from the 22 languages included in the VIIIth Schedule to the Constitution (Qualifying Paper) 300 Marks

    Paper-II English (Qualifying Paper) 300 Marks

    Paper-III Essay [in the medium you choose] 200 Marks

    Papers IV & V General Studies (300 Marks for each paper) 600 Marks

    Papers VI, VII, VIII & IX Any two subjects (each having 2 papers) to be selected from the prescribed optional subjects (300 marks for each paper) 1200 Marks

    Total Marks for Written Examination 2000 Marks

    Interview Test [in the medium you choose] 300 Marks

    IAS exam is conducted by UPSC in once time in year through Civil Service Exam.So you must attend in CSAT exam.

    Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.There is no marks criteria.

    But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

    The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

    Also you must be in citizen in India.

    OPTIONAL SUBJECT FOR IAS EXAM

    UPSC conducts IAS examination every year.In this exam a candidate should take subjects as his/her choices.
    *. Political Science & International relations and Pubilc Administration
    *. Commerce & Accountancy and Management
    *. Anthropopgy and Sociology
    *. Mathematics and Statistice
    *. Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
    *. Management and Public Administration
    *. Any two branches of engineering
    *. Animal Husbandry & Veterimary Science and Mediacal Science
    *. Combination if two Literatures.
