There is a general procedure for the PSU exams which is followed. The candidates may be applying to different companies based on their qualifications and the number of vacancies that are available. The minimum qualification for attending the PSU exams is a graduation. The general cut off will also vary according to the company and the post you are applying to.

But in most of the cases, the candidates need to have at least 50 60% of marks. The final year graduates are also allowed to apply but they need to produce the educational certificates at the time of interview if selected. The candidates generally apply for the PSU exams for the following companies such as

    • NTPC
    • BHEL
    • HPCL
    • HAL
    • ISRO
    • DRDO
    • IOCL
    • BPCL
    • GAIL
    • SAIL
    • BSNL
    • BARC

The selection criteria will mainly involve the written examination. The written examination will be concerning the following areas such as
    • Logical reasoning
    • Language skills
    • Numerical ability
    • Technical skills
    • General Awareness

The candidates who get short listed in the written examination will be called for the group discussion. The final stage will be the Personal interview. The final selection will be based on the performance in the interview.

    Dear Aspirant,
The Selection procedure of PSU is not changing according to the various fields of study.
The common procedure to get placed in Public Sector Units
1)You should have completed your degree
2)You should have atleast 60% marks as aggregate in your degree examinations
3)The maximum age to apply for the competitive exams is 27
4)The relaxation of age is available for the SC and SC Candidates
5)The selection Procedure will be based on the cut off mark you get in the merit exam
    6) SC and ST candidates can have lower marks to get the job than the OC and OBC Candidates
    7) The Competitive Exams based on Logical Reasoning,General English and Questions related to your Subject
8)The Qualified Candidates who get good marks in the written Exams, will be called for Personal Interview.
9)Candidates get good marks in the Personal Interview, will be placed in the respective Public Sector Organisations
    Best of Luck

    Hello friend,

I believe your question means that you are looking for job in PSU and you are doing B.Tech in IT branch.
Friend, there are less opportunities for CS/IT folks in PSU but vacancies keep coming and you need to very alert
and keep looking for these openings on sites like freshersworld.com or sarkarinaukri.com.

Opportunities come in PSU companies like SAIL,BHEL,NTPC,BSNL,DRDO,ISRO.

You can also look for job in banking sector for post of IT officer or specialist officer.

Selection involves written exam and interview. You can do self preparation or you can join coaching centres
like Made easy. But try to score atleast 65% and above because maximum companies put cutoff marx of 65%.
