Prospects of getting good core electronics companies after M.Tech degree?

    Hi,

I did my B.Tech Degree in ECE and am currently working in the Software Industry for the last two and a half years. I have become quite bored with the low level of work being done which does not have much scope for creativity and technical accomplishment.

Now, I am planning to take the GATE examination and do an M.Tech degree. My current position does not allow me to leave the job and give full time attention to studies so I will be preparing for the exam while doing my job.

    My question is, is it worthwhile to expend this effort in preparing for the GATE examination. Does it offer better career avenues where I can use the knowledge which I gained while doing my B.Tech degree; currently my ECE know how is of no use in the job I do and it feels like wastage of technical know how; what are the prospects of getting into good core electronic companies after getting the M.Tech degree;

Also, how much does the salary vary; I am willing to take a lower salary job if it does not vary significantly from my present salary, if the job interests me; the main thing is job satisfaction. Will I be able to crack the exam with part time study?

    Any suggestions?

Thanks for reading through my long post. Much appreciated.

In short after analysing your post related to your query, the anwers is as follows.

Firstly,if you want job security and high salary package then you will have to appear in GATE exam.
This exam is basically conducted for taking admission in M tech course in Top engineering colleges in india such as in IIT'S,NIT'S,IIIT'S AND BIT'S.

There are certain governemnt companies which does not demand for this score card and take seperate exam for recruiting their employees.

The syllabus is not tuff for this exam for engineering aspirants.

Sure friend. .take up the gate exams. .being a ECE student in B.E degree, it would be quite boring to do software oriented jobs in IT industry. .

If you score very good marks in Gate exam and join a real good institute for m.tech, I bet that you will get a core job, may be from the on and pooled campus drives conducted by that institution itself. .

Because most of the IT companies do not value m.tech that much. .The degrees doesnt impress them to give you creative and development oriented jobs. .

Firstly they look for any legal certifications from institutions that they consider as standards in IT industry . .For example a JAVA certification from ORACLE or a DATABASE certification from the same. .
Because such certifications will really test your knowledge and depth in the subjects which in turn gives the company in which you work, an assurance that you are bright enough. .

So, to conclude better take up gate exams and go ahead with your core career. .

    All the best!. . .

Re: Prospects of getting good core electronics companies after M.Tech degree?

    Hello dude!

I appreciate the way you expressed your problem and here i try to suggest you about your problem and i feel it will be helpful for you.

As presently you are doing job that is good but the problem is that you are not getting satisfied and you are worried about your Technical knowledge. What i suggest is better if you write the GATE EXAM and don't prefer to do M.tech unless you get an admission into NIT'S or IIT'S because there is no value for M.TECH if you study in ordinary colleges and surely you will not get any job if you join in such type of colleges. So it is better if you don't waste two valuable years.

But what i suggest is write the GATE EXAM and try to get a good rank(Good rank in a sense at least below 1000) because there are many Public sector Undertakings that are recruiting candidates who have qualified in the gate exam.So you can easily get a job if you can get a good rank. You need not study M.tech for getting job in Government companies,so work hard and surely you can make it.Try to prepare from the starting day and don't delay or postpone.

<<<Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential>>>

HOPE THE INFORMATION HELPED YOU AND ALL THE BEST.
    TAKE CARE & KEEP SMILING
