    Dear Aspirant,

    -->> Various railway zones of India have published notifications for Group D posts recruitment.

    -->> The notification was in 2010 last.

    -->> Now Recruitment Boards have made their mind to conduct exams in May and June, 2012.

    -->> So candidates are waiting for more then one year for these exams.

    -->> This time Recruitment boards are conducting Written Exam first.

    ~WRITTEN EXAM~

    -->> There will be total 150 multiple choice questions in the written exam.

    -->> The questions will be asked of 10th class level from these topics:

    - General Knowledge.

    - General Maths.

    - General Reasoning.

    - General Science.

    -->> After passing in Written Exam candidates have to face Physical Efficiency test, mainly Race of 1500 meter.

    1. The Northern Railway Group D recruitment procedure consists of Written Examination followed by Physical Efficiency Test ( PET ).

    2. Candidates who fulfill the NR Railway Group D ( Non Technical ) Recruitment 2012 eligibility conditions will be called for Northern Railway Group D Written Examination 2012. NR Railway Group D Exam Admit card indicating date, time and venue will be sent to all the eligible candidates.

    3. RRC Northern Railway Group D Written Examination 2012 :

    RRC NR Railway Group D Written Examination will consists of objective type multiple choice question paper based on 10th class standard to assess the General Knowledge, Awareness, Mathematics, Reasoning etc.

    4. The RRC Northern Railway Group D Exam question paper will be printed in Hindi, English, Punjabi & Urdu only.

    5. Negative Marking :

    There will be negative marking for marking wrong answers. 1 / 3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.




    6. Only those candidates who qualify in the RRC Northern Railway Group D ( Non Technical ) Written Examination will be called for Physical Efficiency Test ( PET ). Candidates to the extent of three time the number of NR Railway Group D vacancies in order of merit out of those who have obtained the prescribed minimum pass marks in the Northern Railway Group D written examination will be called for being subjected to PET as per standard mentioned below. A separate admit card indicating date, time & venue will be sent to qualified candidates for PET.

    7. Northern Railway Group D Physical Efficiency Test ( PET ) :

    Passing the NR Railway Physical Efficiency Test ( PET ) is mandatory and the same will be qualifying in nature.

    The criterion for the PET is as under :

    Male Candidates Female Candidates
    Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 4 minutes and 15 second in one chance. Should be able to run for a distance of 400 metres in 3 minutes and 10 second in one chance.
    8. The persons with disabilities are Exempted from appearing in PET.

    9. The candidates will be called for the verification of the original certificates based on basis of merit of the RRC NR Railway Group D written examination and qualifying PET.

    10. The final recruitment panel will be strictly based on merit position obtained in RRC Northern Railway Group D written examination.

    General Conditions for RRC Northern Railway Group D Recruitment 2012 :

    1. Candidates before applying should carefully read the instructions and ensure that he / she fulfills all eligibility conditions at the time of submission of RRC NR Railway Group D Exam applications 2012.

    2. Number of RRC Northern Railway Group D vacancies shown in this notification is provisional. NR Railway Group D Vacancies displayed are liable to be increase or decrease as per administrative requirement.

    3. Selected candidates are liable to be posted anywhere on Northern Railway in Administrative exigencies.

    4. Emoluments on initial Northern Railway appointment will be at minimum of the Pay Band + Grade Pay + Other allowances as admissible.

    5. Mere selection and empanelment does not confer any right of appointment to the candidates.

    6. Admission of the candidate at all stages of recruitment will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed conditions.

    7. Railway Recruitment Cell reserves the right to alter the modus of examinations or conduct re – PET / re – examination or cancel part or whole of any process of Northern Railway Group D recruitment at any stage.

    8. Under any circumstances no damage / loss or refund of RRC NR Railway Group D examination fee will be made.

    9. RRC Northern Railway Medical Examination 2012 :

    The candidates recommended for appointment will have to pass the requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post. Only those candidates who are medically fit would be offered appointment.

    10. Candidates recommended for a particular category of post with a higher medical classification will not be considered for any alternative post with lower medical classification in the event of their medical unfitness.

    Following is the process of recruitment of Railway group D exam.

    Minimum educational qualification for recruitment of Group D posts will be 10th Pass or ITI or equivalent

    Selection procedure
    Selection procedure will consist of written test followed by PET (Physical Efficiency Test) of candidates found successful in written test followed by Medical examination and Document Verification.

    Written Test
    Question paper for the Written Test shall be based on Class 8th standard consisting of150 multiple choice (four) objective type questions aimed to assess general knowledge/awareness, mathematics and reasoning etc.

    No question shall be asked for checking proficiency in language.
    Question paper should be entirely objective and shall be printed in Hindi, English and regional language(s).

    The duration of the Written Test shall be 2 hours.

    Question paper shall be printed with questions jumbled in four to five series.

    Call letters will be posted under certificate of posting, at least one month prior to the date of examination.
    Answer scripts shall be readable on Optical Mark Reader (OMR) and evaluation of answer scripts shall be on computers.

    Result of Written Examination will be declared based on the Evaluation Agency’s Report and scrutiny of the records.
    Minimum pass marks will be 40% for General candidates, 30% for SC/ST and OBC candidates.
    Negative marking: One mark shall be deducted for three wrong answers.

    Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
    Out of those who have obtained the prescribed minimum pass marks in the written test will be called for PET in order of merit separately for each group of General, SC, ST & OBC as follows:

    Call letters will be issued to eligible candidates to appear in PET.
    Physical Efficiency Test [PET] will be qualifying in nature and criterion for the same will be as under:

    Male Candidates:
    Should be able to run for a distance of 1500 metres in 6 minute in one chance.

    Female Candidate:
    Should be able to run for a distance of 400 metres in 3 minutes in one chance.

    The entire proceeding of PET will be videographed so as to ensure transparency and the identification of bonafide candidates taking part in
    PET.
    Physical Efficiency Test will be held in the Divisions of the concerned Railway.
    PET will be supervised by Selection Committee of three Assistant Scale Officers nominated by DRM.

    Document Verification:
    20% candidates over & above the number of vacancies will be called for verification of the original educational/caste certificate(s) and other relevant documents of the candidates. (Ref 5)

    Final Panel
    Panels will be based strictly on merit position obtained in written examination(subject to qualifying PET and Medical Examination).

    Panel finalized by RRC [Railway Recruitment Cell] shall be equal to number of vacancies only.

    Replacement panels shall include only such number of reserved /un-reserved candidates as have not the turned up as per original panel.
