    The union Public Service Commission conducts the Combined Medical service examinations for the recruitment of eligible candidates for the various posts of medical officers in various reputed government organizations related to the health services etc. This is a highly competitive examination which is conducted and the candidates have to try hard to pass this examination. The minimum eligibility criteria’s for attending this exam is a bachelors degree in medicine.

    The candidates who are doing the final year’s graduation related to the medicine field are also eligible to apply. The candidates who are about 32 years and below are eligible to apply for this position. As always there is age relaxation in case of the age limit which is mainly for the reserved categories such as the SC/ST/OBC and other categories. The candidates should be physically fit as per the guidelines to become eligible for writing this exam.

    Regarding the structure and pattern of the exam – it mainly consist of a written examination followed by a personality test. The examination is divided in to two parts where in the structure of the examination is an objective type examination which is held. The subject areas in the examination will generally involve the general ability and general medicine including paediatrics, Surgery, Preventive & Social Medicine and also includes Gynaecology & Obstetrics.

    Combined Medical Services Exam, 2012:

    ::Combined Medical Services examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission in Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railways, Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in Indian Ordnance Factories Health Service, Junior Scale Posts in Central Health Services, Medical Officers in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

    Educational Qualification and Eligibility criteria:

    Age Limit:

    ::Maximum age is 32 years as on 1st January, 2012, and minimum 22 years. The relexable for SC/ST/OBC in specified in the notice.

    Educational Qualification :

    ::For admission to the examination you should have passed the written and practical parts of the final M.B.B.S. Examination.

    ::Final M.B.B.S. Examination students also apply.

    ::The examination will be held at various centres across the country.

    Fee :

    ::Applying Online (excepting Female/SC/ST/Physically Handicapped fee of 50 and remitting the money in any branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit Card.

    ::Applying Offline through Common Application Form 100 through a single Central Recruitment Fee Stamp.

    Scheme of Examination:

    Written Examination (2 papers of 200 marks each, both of objective type)

    ::Paper I (200 marks) and General Medicine including Cardiology, Neurology, Dermatology and Psychiatry Weightage is 60% and Surgery including ENT, Ophthalmology, Traumatology and Orthopaedics and Weightage is 40%

    ::Paper II (200 Marks) and Paediatrics Weightage is 20% and Gynaecology and Obstetrics and Weightage is 40% and Preventive, Social and Community Medicine Weightage is 40%.

    ::Total marks for written exam. 400 and Personality Test 200 Marks.
