Re: What is the general structure and pattern of Bank PO and Clerical exams?

It is true that lot of vacancies are available in the Banking sector for various post also. The general vacant positions may be for PO, Clerk, specialist officers etc. The latest being in this are is the Common Entrance Test for banks which includes around 19 banks are participating in this for recruitment of Probationary officers.

Regarding the structure and pattern of the bank exams. The structure of the exam will be objective type questions where in the candidates will be given four different options to choose from. The candidates have to select the correct answer from the available options. There will be negative marking in case of every wrong answer in this exam.

The pattern of the exam will check the aptitude of the candidates in general. There will be mainly the sections like the following-
    • Quantitative Aptitude
    • Logical Reasoning
    • Verbal reasoning
    • Data Interpretation
    • English language
    • General Awareness
    • Computer Skills

Regarding the question whether computer knowledge compulsory for attending this exam, yes a basic knowledge regarding the working of Computers is good. Most of the graduation level courses cover computers now a day. Hence it will not a big problem. If you have done any computer certification programs it will be an added advantage too.

Re: What is the general structure and pattern of Bank PO and Clerical exams?

    hello
the pattern for bank po exams is as follows
    WRITTEN EXAMINATION
Written Examination Structure:- S No.Name of Tests (Objective)No. of Questions Maximum Marks Duration 1 Reasoning 50 50 Composite Time of 150 mintues2English Language50253Quantitative Aptitude50504General Awareness (with special reference to Banking Industry) 50505 Computer Knowledge5050 Descriptive Paper on English Composition (Essay, Précis, Letter Writing etc)25 60 MinutesTotal250 250

The above tests except the Test of English Language and Descriptive Paper on English Composition will be printed bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi. The Descriptive Papers of only those candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks in each of the objective tests will be evaluated. Other detailed information regarding the written examination will be given in an Information Handout, on IBPS website which will be made available for the candidates to download along with the call letter.

    PENALTY FOR WRONG ANSWERS
There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Test. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If the total of the penalty for a test is in fraction, the marks obtained will be rounded off to the nearest integer, i.e. if fraction exceeds by 0.50 or more, it will be rounded off to next higher integer. If for any question a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as wrong even if one of the given answers happens to be right and there will be the same penalty of 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question deducted as penalty. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is given by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.

    STANDARDIZED SCORES
The corrected scores obtained by each of the candidates will further be converted into standardized scores following Linear Conversion Method.

    CUTOFF SCORE
Each candidate will have to secure a minimum standardized score in each of the tests to qualify in the written examination and to be considered for vacancies in the participating banks. The cut-off points will be decided based on the average (Average – ¼ Standard Deviation for General category candidates and Average – ¾ Standard Deviation for Reserved Category candidates).

    CWE SCORE CARD
IBPS will print the Score Cards for each of the qualifying candidates and will send the same by Registered/ Speed post to each candidate at the correspondence address specified in his/ her online application.

    VALIDITY OF CWE SCORE CARD
Score Cards issued by IBPS will be valid for one year from the date of issue of the Score Card. Candidates can appear in subsequent examination(s) to enhance their scores if they so desire.

    thank u.....

Syllabus is same for both exams those are Probationary Officers and Clerks Exams. In PO Exam is though then Clerk Exam.Descriptive paper is must have for PO exam but in clerk there is no descriptive paper for some banks.According to voices of faculties says that Clerks exam is 60% when compare with PO(100%) depth of POExam
Clerk Exam is very easy when compare with PO Exam.PO Questions asks very depth but in clerk only basic level questions asked.
For Clerks exam Minimum Educational Qualification is 10+2/Intermediate.For Probationary Officers exam minimum educational Qualification is Graduation from recognized university.
    Syllabus of PO and Clerks:

    General Awareness(Both are same)
English Language(Basic level bits and simple Reading comprehension for Clerks/High level Reading comprehension and very depth bits for PO)
    Business Terminology and computers Terminology.
Age limits for PO minimum age is 21 years for Clerks Minimum age is 18 years. I think you can understand how is paper of clerks.
