BHEL and NTPC recruit candidates on the basis of valid GATE score each year. There is no guess about rank, all you need to have high percentile , approximately minimum 95%. For general category, you can consider around 97%.

Dear friend,
The companies under govt sector made cumpolsary that we need to write GATE to apply
for the job. It can be a additional plus point but companies dont demand for it exclusively.
Most of the companies are asking for GATE score as criteria for selection.
Companies like BHEL, NTPC, ONGC, IOCL are giving 75% weightage to GATE score
and Only 25% weightage to Interview.
If you check previous year ranks..GATE top scorer got 91 marks and 2nd topper got 65 marks.
So to get a decent rank and approval from companies it would be better you get 40-50 marks.
Once you get these many marks it will help you go much forward than your competitors to a safe zone.
BHEL has now opened recruitments and you can apply it on or before 4th january.

gate-graduate aptitude test in engineering.
now a days companies are offering jobs based on the gate score.
1.indain oil
2.power grid
3.ntpc-national thermal power corporation
4.bhel-bharat heavy electricals limited.
we can not say the score as it depends upon the vaccancies as well as the competition.
but you should get a very good score and atleast 1000 below rank.
if you are selected in the written test you will have an interview.
