for general awarenessprepration you have to read out all the news,events etc whichis held before last six months. For P.O exam you may follow the following books:

1.PD(pratiyogita darpan)- pratiyogita darpan is a monthly megzine which is very good for general awareness or current affairs. Some practice paper are given in the book for practice.

2.COMPITITION SUCESS- This book is also very useful of all kind of news,events,sports,quize etc.

3.LUCIENT- if your general aware is not good you may prefer for lucients book for getting started for strong base.

For PO exams, usually questions will be asked from current issues, various awards and award winning persons in the recent years, then, questions related to various acts or rules introduced for farmers n then new features introduced in banks etc. You an either use books of UPKAR Publications or SUCCESS for preparing for the exam.
