    When CPT Exam is there? How to apply for it?

    I am based at Surat, Gujarat. My son has passed HSC (12TH STD) and would like to join CA couse alongwith regular B.Com. What is is procedure for CPT Test and when it is conducting. Kindly give me with full details.

    • For Registering for CPT

      A pass at the 10th Standard Examination or any other examination as recognized by the central government as equivalent thereto.
    • For Appearing at CPT

      A pass (or appearance) at the the 10 + 2 examination or any other examination as recognized by the central government as equivalent thereto.
    Though a student is allowed to register for the CPT course after his/her 10th Standard, only those students who have appeared in their 10 + 2 examinations are eligible to appear at the CPT examinations. Early registration is allowed to enable the student to prepare for the CPT along with his/her 10+2 course. Group at 10 + 2 MPC/BiPC/MEC/...!!

    There is no stipulation as to the group that a student should pursue at the 10 + 2 level for taking up this course. As such, a student of any group at the 10 + 2 level can take up the course. Minimum Marks % at 10 + 2

    There is no stipulation as to the % of marks that a student should obtain (either at the 10th level or the 10 + 2 level) to be eligible for taking up this course. registering.


    Passing CPT Failing 10 + 2 Should Pass 10 + 2

    A student can appear at the CPT examination immediately after his/her 10 + 2 exams and has to pass in both the CPT as well as the 10 + 2 exams to be eligible for registering for the next level of the CA course i.e. PCC. If a student has qualified at the CPT examination but has failed the 10 + 2 examination, he/she need not appear at the CPT again. The student can subsequently register for PCC after passing the 10 + 2 examination.

    Certificates to be Furnished Photocopies of the following certificates duly attested should be sent along with the application for registration (Original Certificates need not be furnished):
    • Marks sheet of 10th standard Examination or any other examination as recognized by the central government as equivalent thereto as a proof of minimum educational qualification.

    It is an entry level test for Chartered Accountancy Course. It is a test of four subjects i.e., Accounting, Mercantile Laws, General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude. This test is of 200 marks. This test is divided into two sessions of two hours each with a break in between. CPT is an objective type test with negative marking.
    2. Who can join the course?
    A student who has passed the Class 10 examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or (an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto) may register for Common Proficiency Test.
    3. What is the fees for registration?
    The registration and tuition fee is Rs. 1500 which is to be paid along with filled in application form.
    4. How to register for CPT?
    A student should register with the Board of Studies on submission of the prescribed filled in form which can be obtained from the addresses given on page 3 in Box. The form can also be downloaded from the website www.icai.org.

    Common Proficiency Test is an entry level examination for admission to the Chartered Accountancy Course. A 10th Passed student can register for CPT Course by filling in the prescribed registration form along with the requisite fee. A student who has passed higher qualifications than 10th class such as B.Com, M.Com, LL.B., ICWA, CS, MBA is also, in the first instance, to appear and pass CPT Examination to join the Chartered Accountancy Course.

    CPT test for the year 2011 will be held in the month of december and will be conducted in peper pencil mode and online.

    CPT paper pencil mode exam will be held on sunday 18 th december 2011 in accordance with the revised scheme federation, training and examination of C.A course.


    HOW TO APPLY:-
    any intrested candidates who are willing to take up CA as their profession they can take a registration form from website or from nearest ICAI branch. Fill up the application form and enclose the same along with the following list of enclosers:-
    1. Required demand draft
    2. Date of birth proof (attested by CA or any gazetted officer or head of inst.)
    3. Attested copy of 12th pass or equivalent qualification as recognised by central government.
    4. Proof of nationality (for foreign student)
    5. Category proof


    submit the above said list of encloser along with application form with the nearest chapter office.

    I think this year this exam. are complete, you can apply next year at June. The CPT June 2012 Information brochure containing Common Proficiency Test CPT June application form will also be available for Regional and Branch Offices of the Institute and can be obtained there from on cash payment .

    Alternatively the candidate may fill up the CPT 2011 examination application form online at http://icaiexam.icai.org and remit the fee online by using credit card, either VISA or Master Card.

    CA CPT December 2011 Paper Pencil Test

    Common Proficiency Test CPT Exam for the year December 2011, conducted in following modes :

    Paper Pencil Mode of CPT December 2011 Examination Sunday, 18th December, 2011
    I. Common Proficiency Test ( Paper-Pencil Mode )

    The Common Proficiency Test ( CPT ) Paper-Pencil mode Examination will be held on Sunday, 18th December, 2011 in accordance with the revised scheme of education, training and examination of the Chartered Accountancy Course

    CA CPT 2012 Pattern:-

    The institute conducts Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test (CA CPT Exam) in two modes: Paper Pencil Mode of Examination and Online Registration Mode of Examination. The general examination pattern of CA CPT Exam is given in the following lines.


    Paper Pencil Mode of Examination is conducted in morning session and evening session with each carrying two parts.
    For Online Registration Mode of Examination, the students have to fill an examination form Online and then, this examination is held at various centers across India.
    The entrance test consists of objective type questions.
    The medium of all the questions and instructions is English.
    The question paper follows negative marking scheme, which means one fourth mark is deducted for every wrong answer.

    CA CPT 2012 Eligibility:-

    The candidate who has passed 10+2 can appear in CA - CPT exam. The candidate who is awaiting for their results for 10+2 may also appear in CA - CPT exam.

    The higer qualified candidate who has completed their graduation i.e. B.com, M.com, ICWA can appear for CA - CPT exam.

    (b) A candidate who is already registered for Professional Education-I Course with Board of Studies of ICAI and switched over to CPT course on or before 1st October 2009 will also be eligible to appear in December CPT.

    Requirement for Passing the Common Proficiency Test:-

    A candidate shall ordinarily be declared to have passed the Common Proficiency Test if he obtains at one sitting a minimum of 50 percent marks in the aggregate of all the four subjects/sections comprised in CPT (Examination), subject to the principle of negative marking.

    It is clarified that there is no requirement of securing minimum passing marks in a subject/section of CPT examination.

    There will be negative marking for each wrong answer. 1/4 (One Fourth) mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Please note that multiple darkened circles for a question will also be treated as wrong answer.

    Any fraction of mark in aggregate will be rounded off to the next full mark. It is clarified that there is no provision for improvement of result CPT examination in the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988.

    Therefore, such students who have once passed the CPT examination are not eligible to apply/appear afresh/again in the CPT examination.

    Final year graduation student can apply for the Common Entrance Test
    education qualification-

    - candidate should be a graduate in any discipline from any recognized university or college.
    The candidate should have around 55% in the qualifying examinations.

    age limit-
    age limit should be between 20 -30 years. There will be relaxations for age in case of the reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC and other categories etc.

    selection procedure-
    -first there will be written exam and those who clear this exam will be called for the interview so if you clear this interview ,you will get the job.

    CPT exam conducts twice a year..in the month of

    1st JUNE

    1st OCTOBER

    and notification come before 2 months ..(There are rarely chances of change in dates.)

    Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is an entry Stage test for Chartered Accountancy Course.
