here are three stages of PSI-STI-Assistant Exam ,Preliminary Examination ,Main Examination, Physical Test and Interview.

Preliminary Examination:This is called General Ability Test .Syllabus is of 10th std. Level Questions are in both in English and Marathi mediums(multiple choice 150 Questions). The Exam is generally conducted at all district places in Maharashtra.Candidates successful in Preliminary Exam are called for Main Examination. Marks scored in Preliminary Exam are not counted for final selection.Prelim
Preliminary Examination consist of 150 Questions,300 Marks and Timing is 11/2 hours.

Age: As on 1st Sep 2011:- Min 19 yrs, Max 28 yrs. (Backward classes 31 yrs, Sportsmen/sportswomen – 33 yrs)
