M.Tech is a much more advancement into a particular subject in detail.

M.Tech for electronics and communication engineering may have different subjects of specialisation like :
    -Embedded systems
    -Very large scale integrated circuits
    -Sensor technology
    -Digital image processing
    -Signals and systems
    -Advanced robotics
    -Power electronics

Of all these subjects its important to choose the subject which you shall be more intrested as you are the one who shall deal with it.

VLSI is having a good demand in foreign countries than in India.
In my view i can assure that embedded systems stream is having a good research presently going on in terms of advancements in micro electronics, so it shall be an advice to choose it as your specialization.
Judge yourselves depending upon intrest and choose a good stream.

    All the best.

Job opportunities in core are always there subjected to some constraints like
    1) salary - low when compared to the IT firms but in long run you can earn more
    2) lack of knowledge like where they are actually present and the process of selection
If you are confident in your core concepts and have a good aggregate definitely you have options in private sector as well as in Govt.
In Govt. ECIL,BEL etc. recruits graduates from Electronics background by conducting separate exams.
